Cookie Policy

Last updated: 15 September 2026

This policy explains how whivent uses cookies and similar technologies on the website. It is written to be clear, not to claim that this setup is legal advice or a guarantee of compliance.

What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you use a website. Similar technologies include local storage in your browser. They can remember a choice, keep you signed in, or measure how a site is used.

How whivent uses them

We use them to run the site securely, remember your language, keep you signed in when you have an account, remember map location on your device, and, only if you agree, measure aggregated usage with Google Analytics.

Legal basis

Necessary cookies are used because they are required for the website to function, including security, authentication, language, and storing your cookie choice.

Analytics cookies are used only with your consent. They stay off until you accept them, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.

Cookie categories

Necessary cookies

Always active. You cannot switch them off in this banner because the site needs them to work.

Analytics cookies

Optional and off by default. They are used for Google Analytics 4 after you give explicit consent. They are not used for ads, remarketing, or Google Signals.

Google Analytics cookies are set only after you accept analytics cookies. The exact _ga_ cookie name includes the measurement ID configured in Google Tag Manager.

Similar technologies

whivent:user-location is stored in local storage on your device so the map can remember a position you saved. It is not sent to Google Analytics.

In production, whivent uses Sentry to diagnose errors and performance issues. That tool is for reliability, not advertising, and is separate from Google Analytics cookies.

How to accept, reject, or withdraw consent

On your first visit, a banner lets you accept all cookies, keep only necessary cookies, or open Cookie preferences. Analytics stays off until you accept it. You can change your mind later without creating an account.

How to reopen Cookie preferences

Use Cookie preferences in the website footer at any time. The same control is also available below.

Browser settings

You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working, such as language or sign-in.

Google Analytics

If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 may run through Google Tag Manager on production. We do not send email addresses, precise private addresses, private event content, or other personal identifiers to Analytics on purpose. Advertising features stay off.
